The control room of tomorrow calls for new insights

The role of the dispatcher/operator in the control room is evolving rapidly. Technological innovation, an increasing flow of data and visual information, and growing complexity in incident handling place new demands on people, processes and training. This calls for reflection, knowledge sharing and a forward-looking perspective: how do we properly prepare today’s professionals for the control room of tomorrow?

That is why Meldkamerplein, of which CREON is a knowledge partner, is organising a knowledge session on 11 February 2026 with the theme: “The control room of tomorrow: the changing role of the dispatcher/operator.”

Why this theme?

Dispatchers and operators work under constant pressure. They must switch quickly, interpret information, collaborate with multiple internal and external disciplines, and at the same time manage their own mental workload. Technological support continues to grow, but it also raises new questions. How do we ensure that people and technology continue to strengthen each other, now and in the future?

During this knowledge session, we will explore topics such as:

  • the impact of technological developments on training and skill requirements for dispatchers and operators;

  • effective ways of dealing with the increasing volume of data and camera feeds;

  • cognitive load and the wellbeing of control room professionals;

  • the importance of collaboration with internal and external disciplines in support of information-driven operations.

Room for in-depth discussion

This will be an inspiring afternoon where knowledge, practical experience and different perspectives come together. The full programme, exact location and list of speakers will be announced shortly.
