For his Industrial Product Design studies, Noah Schillemans, a 24-year-old student at The Hague University of Applied Sciences was looking for an educative and inspiring internship. His study focuses on designing a variety of products – from cars and bicycles to coffee cups – with the aim of bringing them to market.
Learn and discover
In a directory of possible work placement companies provided by his school, Noah came across CREON. The products and the website really appealed to him, which motivated him to apply for an internship at CREON.
In July 2023, Noah’s internship at CREON began. John Driessen and Marc Verhoeven from the Design & Development department supervised him during his work placement. They gave Noah a lot of freedom to learn and explore. Among other things, he designed covers for a modular workstation. He was encouraged to work independently and develop himself further. Right from the start of the internship period, Noah felt trusted and supported by the entire team.
From design to product
Noah is most proud of the wall unit he was asked to design for the sales department. This design, which includes storage cabinets, lockers, a consultation table and a TV screen, was really implemented. Noah says: “Seeing my furniture design in the company was really a moment of pride for me.”
Noah also learned how to work with Keyshot, a software programme that can be used to create realistic 3D models. These 3D images are used for product presentations and on CREON’s website, among other things.
Cool side job
Because of his dedication, attention to detail and positive feedback from his colleagues, Noah was given the opportunity to continue working at CREON after his internship. “The opportunity to work here has greatly enhanced my professional and personal growth,” said Noah. Company visits and intensive collaboration with colleagues helped develop his professional skills and subject-matter knowledge of the various aspects of the design and production process. “At CREON, you really do what you are hired for. You work on relevant projects and continuously develop yourself.” Noah is now part of the Design & Development team. And we won’t be rid of Noah yet, because he will also do his graduation internship at CREON.
Noah finds the atmosphere at CREON extremely pleasant and familiar: “The way you can develop yourself with the people who work there, and the way you can be yourself, make CREON really unique. Everyone trusts each other and open communication is the norm. This unique working environment makes CREON a great place for students looking for a challenging and supportive internship experience.”
