We often associate the beach with tanning, getting a breath of fresh air, children playing or just enjoying ourselves. Little thought is given to the potential dangers of the beach and the sea. A team of some 80 volunteers monitors safety on and around Zandvoort’s beach. The main aim of this rescue organisation is ‘preventing drowning’.
Good connections and communication
The Zandvoort Rescue Brigade recently opened a new rescue station on the south beach. From this control room, communication with lifeguards such as boat units, vehicles, walking patrols and other emergency services takes place. It also handles telephone calls from beach visitors and pavilions.
Reduce, reuse, recycle
As an association, the Zandvoortse Reddingsbrigade depends on subsidies, sponsorship and the efforts of dozens of volunteers. Despite their budget, the rescue brigade still desired a sit-stand console from CREON. To accommodate this non-profit organisation, CREON – in consultation with the Police – made an aged 112 reporting table, which was in storage, available at a very attractive offer. After all, both the Police and CREON have the ambition not to throw away obsolete products, but to reuse them if possible.
